Until we meet again!
What a fantastic weekend of virtual Barbershop celebration we’ve just enjoyed! The LABBS Big Weekend showcased all the rich talent from quartets and choruses from across the UK. Many choruses released videos of songs they’d been working on in a socially distanced manner over the last few months. Others, like Bristol Fashion, reflected on everything they’d been working on since March 23rd, 2020 when we headed into lockdown 1.0. And what have we been up to?
Well, most excitingly, we’ve given ourselves a new look – one that’s reflected in our brand-spanking-new and if we might say so, rather sophisticated new logo! Over the last thirty years or so, the logo has been an evolution of the image of Brunel’s famous landmark – the Bristol Suspension Bridge. However, we sensed (if you pardon the pun!) we’d come to the end of the road with it. In light of our success at Llandudno in 2019 where we placed fifth at Convention, it felt like a good time to give ourselves a new look. A look which needed to reflect Bristol Fashion as a friendly, forward-looking and award-winning female chorus and also make confident statement about our future ambitions. It’s a lot to ask of a little logo but we cast the brief out to a creative team and finally agreed on the design. It’s very different from our previous image and one that we’re really pleased with!
Now that we have this new logo, we’re busy updating our website and social media platforms to reflect the new look. And it also gives us a good excuse to rework our wardrobe too… now, that is exciting!!
In the meantime, we continue to bring the BF family together weekly at our Zoom rehearsals and although singing together virtually isn’t quite the same as singing together really, we’re as strong a community as we’ve ever been. There’s been such an outpouring of support for each other, through the good and the bad of the last six (plus) months and we can’t wait for the day when we can sing and laugh together once more.
Until that day, here’s our showcase video from the LABBS Big Weekend. We hope you enjoy it!
