Hi! I’m Craig and I have the honour of being Musical Director of Bristol Fashion Chorus. I live in Bath and work for the UK’s leading mobile phone network. I hold a BA (Hons) degree in music having moved to Bath in the autumn of 2002 to study at Bath Spa University College. I also hold certificates in saxophone and piano (although I haven’t played either for some time).
Before finding barbershop I sang in my village church choir for many years and was organist for 5 years before moving to the South West. My barbershop ‘career’ began in October 2000 when I joined the Shannon Express Chorus from Potton, Beds and then helped form a new chorus in Northamptonshire called 5ways. From 2004 to Sept 2009 I was a member of The Great Western Chorus of Bristol where I was Deputy Chorus Director and Tenor Section Leader. I am also proud to say that I was part of the chorus that won the British Chorus Championship in May 2008. I currently sing Tenor in a newly formed quartet: 'Green Room'.
I became Musical Director of Bristol Fashion Chorus in the summer of 2007. Although directing a ladies’ chorus was new for me at the time, I do have other directing experience. I was part of the first National Barbershop Youth Chorus and directed them on their debut performance at the national convention in 2006. I also had the privilege of directing the NBYC at the Natural History Museum in front of the Queen of Sweden no less!
Being part of the barbershop fraternity has taken me to many new places. I have had the pleasure of singing all over the UK plus Ireland, Holland and America. I would encourage anyone out there to ‘give it a go’ and see how long it takes for you to catch the ‘barbershop bug’! Please enjoy the rest of our website and if you think you might want to have a try, take a look at the audition page. I look forward to seeing you at a rehearsal soon.
