Craig with the trophy for the 'Most Improved Chorus' October 2009
Hi! Iím Craig and I have the honour of being Musical Director of Bristol Fashion Chorus.
I live in Bath and I am a secondary school teacher of music and drama. I hold a BA (Hons) degree in music after studying at Bath Spa University from 2002 until 2005. I also hold certificates in saxophone and piano
(although I havenít played either for some time).
Before finding barbershop I sang in my village church choir for many years
and was organist for 5 years before moving to the South West.
My barbershop 'career' began in October 2000 when I joined the Shannon
Express Chorus from Potton, Beds and then helped form a new
chorus in Northamptonshire called 5ways. From 2004 I have been a member of The Great Western Chorus of Bristol.
I am also proud to say that I was part of the chorus that
won the British Chorus Championship in May 2008.
I became Musical Director of Bristol Fashion Chorus in the summer of 2007.
Although directing a ladiesí chorus was new for me at the
time, I do have other directing experience. I was part of
the first National Barbershop Youth Chorus and directed them
on their debut performance at the national convention in
2006. I also had the privilege of directing the NBYC at the Natural History Museum
in front of the Queen of Sweden no less!
Being part of the barbershop fraternity has taken me to many new places. I
have had the pleasure of singing all over the UK plus Ireland, Holland and America. I would encourage anyone
out there to 'give it a go' and see how long it takes for
you to catch the 'barbershop bug'!
Please enjoy the rest of our website and if you think you might want to have
a try, take a look at the audition page.
I look forward to seeing you at a rehearsal soon.
